The NSW Ambulance Services you will initially start as a trained Paramedic. As skills develop, you'll move up the ranks. Different opportunities and departments become available to you, these departments allow your character to grow and enjoy the EMS experience.
All-rounders who provide urgent medical care to civilians who have sustained injuries. Paramedics collaborate with their colleagues both to learn and to manage all incoming support requests, often working closely with the Police Department.
The Fire & Rescue department provides a niche, but valuable function - often being rolled out in situations varying from simple to complex. Their duties involve anything from people stuck in high places, to business safety inspections, and managing serious motor vehicle accidents.
Doctors are similarly experienced to paramedics, but are certified in providing a higher level of care to civilians. They are ready and willing to jump into complex treatments such as surgeries, client consultation, and offer more in-depth medical care when compared to paramedics.
HEMS-certified personnel are qualified to use helicopters, which are vitally important in the recovery of patients most often from the northern, mountainous regions. These airborne professionals are expected to work alongside ground units to facilitate swift and safe recoveries of patients in hard-to-reach places.
